days of rain was hell!
I saw/read a great interview with someone a week or so ago. I can't for the life of me remember where but it captured some salient points about our leader and his Christian bent.
Where would we be today if George had only followed his devout Christian upbringing? Would Jesus have retaliated with wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? Or would he have turned the other cheek and prayed for his enemies? What would the world think of an America that courageously embraced the terrorists as simply creations of the world we all contributed to? It does make you wonder how a sea of red states situated over the bible belt could continue to endorse a President and his chosen leaders when their agenda appears to be a Christian Crusade and not the teachings of Jesus. It certainly is shocking that more than 16,000 Iraqi's are now dead - many not terrorists. And it does fill me with awe that Americans are now hated around the world. Some shock and awe, I'd say, but not perhaps what Rumsfeld was hoping for.
Theresa and I got back last Monday from our Austin City Limits Musical Festival adventure. You can read all about it on Chewing the Clef. It was a great trip! We both came back with lingering chest/head colds though. I made a huge pot of beef vegetable soup and an overflowing pan of haluski (cabbage and noodles) yesterday which seemed to help. We're having some friends over today to watch the Steelers/Bengals game. It's not looking good for the Black and Gold but we'll hope for the best and back our team to the slightest possibility for victory.
Meanwhile, West Virginia University continued its winning ways yesterday with a win over East Carolina. The EC Pirates put up one hell of a fight but WVU's winning combination of Slaton running the ball and White passing and a strong defense edged them out. Local favorites Pittsburgh Panthers posted a huge win over the Citadel yesterday and Penn State came up short against #1 Ohio State. I'm trying to get tickets to the Pitt/WVU game on November 16th. That should be a fantastic backyard brawl.
We watched "The Wedding Crashers" and "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" last night. The former started out great and then fizzled with a really stupid ending. Sky Captain was entertaining but dragged in parts and the ending was, well, dumb. We liked the filming method on Sky Captain - lots of sepia tones and grainy shots to enhance the feeling that this was a Wizard of Oz/Casablanca era film. There were tons of references to Wizard of Oz throughout which was kind of cool.
Hopefully, I can get the grass cut at the rental today and then sink into my favorite football chair for some high-powered Steelers action. Have a good one!
Cheers!
